I am intrigued by how quickly nature changes, and how impossible it is to capture a moment, but I love to try.

My love of art history influences the work as I references traditional vanitas (still lives) as a measure of ever changing life.

It is the element of change that inspires and builds the foundation of the work.

I love to paint luscious layers of color and mark to create something that might have a fraction of a chance in capturing a moment. I am intrigued by how quickly nature changes, and how impossible it is to remember a moment.

My work has been featured in exhibitions by the curator of Exhibitions from the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the curator of Modern and Contemporary Fine Art with the Heritage Auction House. It has won awards from nationally recognized curators, from the producers of PBS, the 48 hour film festival, and has been awarded competitive grants and sabbaticals to attend residencies home and abroad, all while showing nationally and internationally with my paintings, drawings, and installations.

I am an artist first, but am also a Professor of Art, which I love, as I get to help investigate, examine, and build creativity everyday. Beyond my cute husband and sweet children, my  true love is making works of art that are trying to catch a fleeting moment, in hopes to remember the always changing world.

Here is a Voyage Dallas Article with a little more of my story.
